are there any tetras that school with neon tetras?

i wanted to get two-three more tetras to go with my neon tetras, are there any that will school with them? preferebly under 2inches in size. and it would be nice if they were black or blue. i think black neons will but, are there any others?

glowlite tetras (yellow-orange version of neons) and Kerri tetras (a blue version of the neon) aka blue emperor tetra, or royal tetra.. tho these ones i have never come across in person. and u are right about the black neons.. they will school together.

but i cant recommend getting any less than 5 of a shoaling fish
nor can i recommend someone getting fish when their tank is getting to the borderline of being overstocked if too many more fish are added

I have to agree with kittiekat, if your getting close to being over stocked.
Also, we're trying to figure out why the 1 died, and another is showing the same symptom.
You wouldn't want to add any fish if the ones you have now are getting sick.
No personal experience with this, but I have read that if the tetras are basically the same shape and size, they will school.

yes. i know i am close to overstocking. im not getting more fish until i know what was wrong. i wanted to know for future references because i might get a secong tank just for tetras and i wanted a big shoal of them, but different kinds.

Any tetras similar in size and shape will school with one another. When I selected my neons I even tried to get ones close in size to each other, even though they were all the same species. In the wild schooling fish will swim next to fish that look the most similar to themselves. It is an important survival technique. If everyone looks exactly the same, an attacking predator will have difficulty 'tracking' the one fish that they are zeroing in on. You never see a really big fish choosing a really tiny fish to swim next to in schooling fish because it's dangerous. So...what I'm getting at is try to get fish that are as close in size as possible whether you are mixing species or not. It will help your tetras feel less stressed, and make that big shoal your planning look even more impressive!
