Neon and Glowlight Tetras

Someone said in another thread that neon tetra and glowlight tetra are are similar enough that they would be happy with eachother. Would they also school together? I'm curious as to if it is okay to have a shoal of 6 tetra total, 3 neon and 3 glowlight.

Here is the thread:

I would watch them and see how they react to each other. If they stay in groups on opposite ends of the tank, or generally do not interact with each other, they aren't schooling.
However, if they all tend to travel around the tank together, you should be good.
I think, in general, the smaller tetras will all work together just fine. The instinct to stay in groups is pretty strong, and usually overcomes minor differences in appearance.

In my 50g I have 18 cardinals, 12 neons and 6 glowlights. For the most part they each form there own little shoals, but they do interact very calmly and if anything spooks them they instantly form a school of 36 and move together for a period of time then slowly form there own groups again.

I agree here.

It depends. Sometimes they will school. If in a small tank they will huddle together most of the time. In a large tank, they almost keep their little armies as I like to call them at seperate ends of the tank.
