| Red Eye Tetras... what fish do they like Hi
I got 6 red eye tetras today, they are such little cuties, cannot wait to get home from babysitting to look at them.
So in couple weeks will add another couple fish. and again in another few weeks.
I am lucky that the store I get has a real expert there and the fish always look very healthy and happy. They have few staff specialised to the aquarium section and they really know there stuff.
Anyway I was thinking of a panda cory, should i get 1 or 2? and in few weeks some neons. Finally i would like to get a dwarf gourami or i might get a pair of some other colourful fish.
Any ideas and advice please, i am sure the guy in store will tell me too but k just wanted to plan and get good idea before i go there. They were keeping panda corys with red eyes so am sure that is ok combo
Thanks

| I have had three red eyes for almost 4 years now. They're in with Pristellas, Serpaes, cory's and 2 smaller bala's. They've never bothered any other fish in my tank, but the biggest of the three never lets the smallest one forget who's boss. What was cool was the first month I had the balas, the little one spent more time with the red eyes than the other bala. The one thing I do like about them (the red eyes) is, they spend most of their up near the top of the tank. The only time they come down towards the bottom is if they're chasing food. |

| I have two red eyes, I love them. They enjoy hanging out with my black skirt and white skirt tetras, they're a nice little group. I also have some rosy barbs, angels, and a pleco in the tank that they live harmoniously with. |

| I have 6 red eyes..they are beautiful fish and really active. I have kept them with dwarf gouramis; blue gourami; krib; clown plec; sailfin mollies and guppies ( the gups would shoal with them) and otos. I have never, ever seen any fish bother them, or them bother any fish. Mine are usually around top to mid tank, but head towards the bottom chasing food. There is one who is a bit of a regel, and breaks from the shoal and does his own thing sometimes.
It is great that you have 6, IMO you can better see schooling behaviour, which is so different than just a couple.
Good luck with them.

| Thinking of adding 10 red eyed tetra into my 53 gallon tank. Hello, we are setting up our 53 gallon tank. So far we have 1 male golden wonder Panchax, 2 female golden wonder Panchax and 6 leopardus Corys. There is a nice bogwood in the tank with lots of caves and we have planted up with various small growing to larger growing plants. We are thinking of adding approx 8-10 red eyes, later 2 dutch rams and even later 2 angels. We have heard that red eyes can be nippy and are a bit worried about putting them with Angels and the rams are said to be timid. Any advice would be very welcome as we want our fish to be happy. Our male Panchax is a bit bossy, very beautiful but obviously boss of the tank at the moment... Our water levels are perfect all round. Thank you! |
