i will be starting a new 10 gallon tank for a school research project lol i love collage! but i was planning on 7 or 8 cardinal tetras and 3 panda corys ues i know htat the full grown size is overstocked but the pandas i will be getting are barely half an inch and i have a 50 gallon home for when they grow up same with the tetras. i was planning of having a moderatly planted tank so im wondering what kind of substrate i should use. I was thinking sand but im not sure how well plants grow in that. also how would i clean it? shrimp? anywho im so excited! yay collage! This is going to be my first real try at aua scaping i want it to look something like but not exactly like this

The substrate you'll want to use will depend on the plants you'll be getting. Some plants will attach themselves to driftwood or rock and others will float. In these cases the substrate is not too important. You should research the plants you'll be getting. I'm in the process of doing the same.
