Re: Lemon tetra

Is that a question if they are? If so, they are lemons. They look great.

Re: Lemon tetra

Right now we have 4 up & running...I had them in a 20g tropical for a bit...over the past year or so we've had many set ups. I wanted to try out certain fish to see if I liked them. We've have an awesome group of fish people here who give good deal on fish & fish stuff.

Allie,

I'm also in Halifax. Just starting out. My 20 gallon tank has been cycling for 3 weeks now and almost ready for fish. Nitrites are near zero so I think I will introduce two or three tetras on saturday.

We wanted to go with the Columbian tetras but have been told they grow quite large. We also love the Lemon Tetras so we'll be going with that. Hopefully keep a school of 7.

Do you know anyone giving or selling some Lemon Tetras from their tanks?

Cheers!

Not at the moment..have your tried any of the Pet Unlimited or Aqua Creations (on Quinpool Road)? I will keep an eye out for some.
Try these sites...sometimes they are full of fishies.

Allie,

Aqua Creations carry them, but their tails are purple (?). I actually like this color but it seems that this could be a color morph?

Also, is 7 of them enough? How large do they get in your experience?

Purple tails Ac get some odd colored fish sometimes...they even had dyed parrot cichlids there, pink, blue, yellow, orange. ( I wasn't impressed by them) lemon tetra get about 2" big. 7 is definitely enough...that a good shoal/school.
Here's some info on them

Well I now have 3 in my tank. They look a bit stressed...the Columbian Tetra is bullying them around. We're gona trade him in for another lemon. My Ammonia and Nitrite levels are still reading 0, and Nitrates 15ppm.

They lost a lot of their color in the transfer but this must be normal? Anyways, I acclimated them very slowly. Process took about an hour. They are swimming around the tank.

Hello,
I have three lemon tetras, but they wont swim around unless the hood light is off. Do you have this problem? I find it boring at night when I want to see my tank and fish with the light on at night and the fish are hiding under the rock. Give me some tips.

Tetras are schooling fish, and with only 3 they don't feel secure to come out in the open.

If your tank is large enough, you should add about 4 more.

Pretty fish! I thought about adding some to one of my tanks, but I don't have any room at the moment
