Re: Congo Tetra.

They will be going into a 45 Gal Tank.
Im trying to sell off my 5 African FIsh so i can start a nice large community tank.

All the fish ive had have got along with one and anouther.
i have a 90 Gal Tank that has a 10Inch OScar, and 3 Maroon Sharks 7-8 inch, and 4 bala sharks about 6 inch Nothing but Gravel and rocks in that tank and they have Tones of Moving room. the seven sharks all swim around with eachouther and the Oscar also swims around with them None of them have ever been fin niped and the Oscar has never shown any aggression to the Fish.
i did have a Red Devil In that tank also but i gave him away cuz he was the only Mean Fish i ever had.
They are all well fed and Happy. But im looking forword to the Big Community tank. i have no idea what im going to put in it yet.
But i will have 5 or six Cory's for sure! Albino if i can Find cuz i have one all rdy that is about 2.5 -3 inch and He is so fat lol i love him. Good Ground Cleanes. I kinda have an idea of what i all want in their but who knows. No real plants, They are too much of a Pain to keep in the tank i had a small 20 gal community tank with real palnts and all the Fish Eat them, and make a mess so No more of that. Some Nice Fake plants and mabey some Real Floting Plants will do good.

I have three of them in my fifty gallon (I wanted five, but that's all the LFS had! Getting two more soon...) and I love them. They are gorgeous fish and pretty peaceful. Hearty eaters, though! They will eat anything. They get along with my corys and my kribs just fine.

I have two in my larger aquarium, I'm looking to get two more next weekend. They're really pretty!

They move around a lot, but don't seem to school up (so I don't think you NEED a school of 6 or more.) I haven't seen them hiding yet (i've only had them a few days) so I think you'll be fine without plants. Maybe get a few plastic ones just in case.

They're not aggressive as far as I can tell, however they are the smallest fish in the tank right now. Buenos Aires Tetras ignore them, and the congos do likewise. However, they do tend to spar with the Giant Danio's...even the ones that are much larger than them.

The Gourami chases them occasionally, but they're faster and have no trouble with him.

Too bad they're so expensive! I got mine on sale for half off...and they were STILL $5! I hope the sale runs through next weekend when I pick up two more...

EDIT: I take it back, they DO need plants and stuff. I went by the tank during the night and the congo tetras were chilling in/near plants and rocks.
