Scales?!?!? On Black Skirt Tetra

Hi, today while watching my fish I saw one of my black skirts eating something then spitting it out, it looked like a scale. Then a few seconds later I see a scale just flowing in the water still on one of my black skirts. This makes me afraid could there be something wrong? Please help I dont want them to be sick.
I just put new fish in with them today Flame Tetras, and added Melafix because of the new fish, and some fin damage to the black skirts. (I just assumed the damage might be from the 2 Leopard Danios I have because they always chase each other around nipping.) Although could the black skirts be fighting with each other?? There are 7 of the black skirts. Any answers are appreciated. :] Thank you all

If they were missing scales you would see a definate sore. Check tehm over and see what you can tell.
Danios always chase each other around, it's just their nature and there isn't usually any damage done. They also need to be in bigger groups.

Re: Scales?!?!? On Black Skirt Tetra

I know the danios need to be in bigger groups but I dont like these, I started with 4 of them. Yet two died of unknown causes I took them back to the store. I didnt see a sore, so could the black skirts just be playing around too hard and knocked off the others scale, it isnt sticking out like 90 degrees (dropsy) so I dont think its that. It could be minor and i am just a panic bug.

Keep a close eye on them and keep their water especially clean. You said you used melafix, any particular reason?

Re: Scales?!?!? On Black Skirt Tetra

The reason I used melafix was for some fin nipping that i saw and because i was adding new fish to the tank.

Just wondered if you use it too often when there isn't any disease present they may become immune to it.

Re: Scales?!?!? On Black Skirt Tetra

I only got to use it for 2 days so I dont think they would even have enough time to become immune to it Everything seems fine now thanks for your help.
