Re: levels for new tank

sounds cycled to me!! horay!! congratulations! all the hard work paid off! you are ready for fish...just a few at a time though give a week at least, pref 2 for it to stablise between fish additions to give the bacteria chance to catch up and you shouldnt see fluctuations. if you do get any ammonia or nitrite peaks, stop adding fish and do plenty of water changes until the ammonia and nitrite are back at zero. just keep an eye on your nitrate now and ensure it doesnt go over 20. if it gets close do a 50% water change.
now you can enjoy your tank!

here's gilly's tank! - looking good!

its exactly the same as mine! my first tank til i got carried away and bought more tanks (happens to us all!) the "elite" one with "hagen/nutrafin" stuff with it?! wish the stand had a cupboard or something though! seems a waste of space and doesnt feel very strong either! i live and learn!

sounds like a sign that your tank is cycled. i think they're called diatoms or something like that and aren't harmful to your fish. they should go away too, if i'm remembering right.

Re: levels for new tank

yep - they go away in a bit, i don't know what else you have in there or were planning on getting, but some otos will also take care of the problem for you
