Reading the colors on the API color card

I'm doing a daily ammonia test with the API Freshwater ammonia kit (liquid droppers). I'm having sort of a problem. Since my glass tube cracked, I have been using those disposable white styrofoam cups for a while now. When I place the cup under my desk light, I see 1.0 PPM. When I put it in some shade, I see about 2.0 ppm.
Which reading should I trust? Thanks.

the test tubes are sold separately at most LFS for about .49 .....I would go with the 2 to be safe and do the proper things for that
