API freshwater test and Kordon AmQuel+ water conditioner?

I've read the ammonia test won't work when using this water conditioner? Why?

Depends on the reagent involved.

I have read the same thing, but have not had any issues with my own API test for ammonia.

After being confused by this for awhile, I did a bit more research and found that if you get the API test that is ONLY for freshwater (which is likely included in the master kit), it will not be compatible. But, the kit that is for FRESH or SALTWATER, with two different color code cards, that it is compatible. I use the kit for both fresh and saltwater and have not had problems.

I am hunting for a link currently that explains this in more detail. I will edit my post when I find it.

I've also read the same thing. I know that Kordon, the manufacturer of Amelquel, says that it won't work with API's ammonia test, and you are supposed to buy their powder-based ammonia test.

I remember 1 member saying a couple of months ago that she was able to use it as long as she waited 24 hours to test. Others have had the problem, and buy the Kordon test from their website.
