API test kit

Got the API test kit today (instead of the test strips I was using) as you all suggested... thank you.

You're right, more accurate results (at least, for one thing, anyway.. LOL)....

Levels of the three things I tested came in as:

ammonia - between 0 and 0.25
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 0

The test "strips" were showing me ammonia somewhere between 0 and .50.... this test kit narrowed it down to between 0 & 0.25.

(these results are for my 10 gallon tank.... I didn't use the API test kit on the betta tank because everything came back with all "0"'s on the strips)

I have to add, though.... even though the test results are more accurate, BOY does it take WAY more time to test with the API kit!!.. LOLOL... [but don't get me wrong, I WILL keep using it, because it's more accurate)..... but I think for "quick" daily testing, I'll keep using the strips, and, if I get "odd" or "vague" results, I'll pull out the API test... AS WELL AS use the API kit every 4 to 6 days regardless.

anyway..... I haven't gotton the Prime yet.... I wanted to check the other store first (to avoid shipping and handling). I managed to get the API kit at the store, but, of course, they didn't have the Prime or the Tetra SafeStart!!.... Off to Amazon or wherever to order online.

Thanks All!!

P.S... adding, and YES I did a partial tank change after getting the ammonia results!!

don't use Prime with the TSS. If you are going to add Prime, add it and then wait 48 hrs then add TSS.
