The API master test kit is highly recommended. Not cheap, but sometimes cheap is not better.
Check walmart.com, they've got a pretty good price on them.

Yup, API Master Test Kit. It's usually $30, sometimes on sale for $24 at PetSmart. It gives you hundreds of tests, though, as opposed to 15 or 20 in the strip kits (which rarely test ammonia anyway) and it is actually accurate. The strips aren't worth purchasing at all.

I agree dont go cheap on the test kit....thats the backbone of all fish tanks IMO ....

I heard petsmart was running $18 and you can print off the price and product and petco will match it..or visa versa

with the api master liquid test kit, you can get a 100 of tests that has everything you need to keep a prestine tank....

yeah my LFS robbed my for 40 bucks but really the api was worth it i am addicted to testing water now
