The latest water test (done with the test tubes, not strips)

ammonia 1 (way down from the 4 it was five days ago)
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 5

We just got the tests for the nitrite and nitrate last night. I'm kind of worried b/c I figured since we were going from too much ammonia down, that we should have some nitrite (which I know is bad, but I assumed it would be present). I also thought that the Nitrate was supposed to be higher.

We've been doing daily water changes of 25%, and the ammonia is definatly coming down. I just want to make sure that the tank is cycling properly.

Are these readings normal??

Looking good! Cycles not quite there yet but definately moving. You could probably go to every other day water changes now, just watch the ammonia and don't let it get back up like it was. Good luck!
