lol yes there is a place online that you can see it, i'll look for it for you, but you might be able to find it by finding the API website or something like that. basically if your nitrIte test is a light blue then it's zero, the other colors look way different, you'll eventually be able to just look at it and tell. IMO if it isn't zero, it doesnt really matter what it is higher than that, since you'll probably need to do 50% daily changes anyways.

i'm sorry about your convict

yeah, the test should be light blue if it's zero, hold it up to a white piece of paper if you haven't already and just double check.

when was the last time you added a fish to the tank? have you changed any of the substrate or filter media? how large of a water change do you do and how often? what GPH is your filtration rated for?

i added the fish with TSS <<<<< waste of money ... GPH is 1200 .. I have'nt changed substrate .. the filters is 2 emperor 400 and a top fin 60 i only added filters to the 400's as i read to keep old filters for atleast a month so in the 400's its 4 media

EDIT the 400 filters and meadis came from established tank .... i'm sad/mad what am i doing wrong ... i follow tips as you "made" fish keepers tell me

honestly i dont think you are doing anything wrong, oscars are HUGE waste producers and it can be really hard to keep up with them. the JDs aren't as much as the oscars but still quite a lot. i'd just think about switching to two smaller water changes per week so that you can do a more thorough gravel vacuum to get up more waste, that should put you back on track in no time. since your ammonia and nitrate are still in check (i assume) then i doubt your cycle actually crashed or that you are in a mini-cycle, just that there happened to be a bit more waste than your cycle could handle.

I'm sorry about your fish.

There's pics of the test kit cards in this thread:
Can anybody please please do a HUGE HUGE favor for me?
Scroll down to Jimmy's post.
The colors are more accurate than the ones linked in the thread.
