slimfish's test kit question

Im a newbie althoughgrowing up i had many tanks with reasonable success. after a 27 year break i am now starting a fishless cycle in a planted 10g tank. It's been 3 full days and nights and water is crystal clear. I will be calling my local watr supply co tomorrow for info on pH levels. I know chloramines are used and have 10 gallons of bottled , distilled , stresscoat plus and stresszyme treated water as of now. The dip stick (API) test kit i have indicates all colors normal BUT THE PH. Can you guys recomend an upgrade for a test kit. My api dip stick kit was 10 bucks in wallyworld and is already leaving me dumbfounded as to what actually needs to be done to the bad color indication for ph. should it go up or down? I can't tell. Whats a reliable , easy to figure test kit. I'm willing to spend a little more money to save my fish problems when they move in. Thanks. Test kit info definately needed.

I moved your question to a thread of it's own. This way you can get more personalized info.
I love my API master kit. It's a liquid kit and tests for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph.
I've found it to be more accurate than the strips and less costly in the long run.

i got my API kit online at petmountain.com for $18+ shipping. if you want anything else i suggest combining the order because their rates for shipping are actually pretty decent
