Dry Tablet Test Kits

I've just set up my 29G again after about 5 years of storage.
Obviously I've tossed all food and test reagents.

I picked up the API master kit, and I previously used API test kits, though not a master kit, but they were the dry tablet reagents.

It seems these aren't available anymore.
My original LFS (now gone, unfortunately) said these were great kits, and since they always gave me good advice, I trusted them. As far as I could tell, they worked great.

Anyone know why these dry tablet kits were discontinued?

No idea about the dry tablets but your LFS is right the API master kit is great. For the most part that's what the majority of people on here use. What are you planning on stocking your 29gallon with??

My (old) LFS recommended the dry tab tests, not the current API master kit, but...

As to stocking, I am planning to go with Kuhli Loaches, Harlequin Rasboras, and (I hope) something else; I really like the green Tiger Barbs (had some before) but I know they can be nippy.
Since both like schools, this is getting pretty close to a full tank for a 29G, though I hear that the Kuhli's have a lighter bioload considering their size being long but skinny.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm definitely interested.

I had some Tetras and Corydoras before too, but since I'm going with Kuhli and Rasbora, I've decided I want to stick with Asian species (hence the Tiger Barbs), but I'm not sure what else I would like to get.

I'm trying to plan out my MTS, since I like some of the Tetras, and I love the Corys, I'm going to do a SA theme tank, and I recently saw some Knight Gobys, so want to do a brackish tank with those and something (???). I've not done any brackish research so no ideas, but that's a couple years down the line anyway, so plenty of time to figure that out.

I did not know Dry Tabs were discontinued. I always thought those individually wrapped tabs were more accurate than Liquid, although same reagent, for simple reason. Dry Tab are not exposed to air unless peel off from foil wrap unlike liquid reagents which are expossed to air (possible contaminant) every time it is used.
Maybe discontinued for convenience reason. Do you remember all those shaking done to dissolve certain tab. Couldve made few cocktails form all those shaking, lol.

Yep, that was the reason my LFS gave, more accurate than the liquid reagents. Never thought about why, or if they were the same as the liquids, but that sounds like a logical reason why they would be better.

I can't for sure say they're discontinued, but API doesn't seem to have a page for them and I can't really find any for sale on sites like DFS, BigAls, etc., so that's the conclusion I'm making.

Oh yeah, lots 'o shaking. I didn't mind though, like I said, I trusted the LFS so I never thought about using anything else and it really didn't cross my mind that it was a slight inconvenience.
The little 'crush stick' did help a lot though, would have been a ton of shaking to not chop 'em up a bit first.

API Liquid test kits are just fine. Used them both with no diiference in results and is cheaper.
