I decided to look around to see if I could just buy some cheap test tubes with better stoppers/caps, maybe with a small rack. I'd thought I'd found the perfect solution with
these but when I got them, it turns out when they say "large" they mean *large*. They're workable, but 5ml of water in one works out to just over 1/2". But at least the caps are water-tight. I just use a medical syringe to exactly measure 5ml (or 5cc on the syringe). One nice thing is I can set up the rack with multiple test tubes at once and blast through all the tests without a lot of running back and forth.
At some point I may make another attempt at getting some smaller test tubes with stoppers/caps, but oddly this stuff is *really* hard to find in small quantities (I don't really need 1000 test tubes, thanks).
