Fluctuating temps in the Bahamas

Hello everyone.

I have a dilemma with my 20 gallon tropical community tank.

I got during the beginning of the year where cold fronts were coming in left and right and that would have called for a heater.

Today the temperature is at a cooler 79F and the tank is at 80F with no heater. Only yesterday the temperature was 86F and the tank was 84F degrees so I felt the need to put a bottle of ice in there.

Since it gets cold and hot here, does this mean I need to get a heater and a chiller? I know chillers are pretty expensive and I will get a heater before it starts getting colder again.

The only other thing I can think of is moving my tank to the bedroom with air conditioning and add a heater. What do you guys and gals think?

Thanks so much,
Jess.

i'd move the tank into the bedroom, more important than the temperature itself is that it's consistent, and constant fluctuations are going to be very stressful on your fish

im thinking i wish i lived in the Bahamas!!!! but I would move it where you can have a heater/air conditioner , to keep it at a consistent temp ..your right tho , chillers are expensive goodluck tho!

Thanks for the opinions Alex and Shawnie. I think I will do that because it's going to get very very hot in the near future. Summer is nothing to fool around with here because not only will it be in the 90's and up, but it's almost always 100% humidity.

Any particular brands that are best heaters?

marineland visitherm stealth shatterproof heaters are the best IMO, and they come with a lifetime guarantee
