swordtails in a community tank?

Our teacher has recently decided to convert the salt water aquarim into fresh water,(75ish gallons) and now we have 6 danios, one red tailed shark, 2 panda cories, some snails(i don't know how many - he didn't scrub the snail eggs off of the plants.), 2 "red tails" which look a bit like rasborahs to me, and some sort of "shark" with a black dot on his dorsal fin and other ways white. Now he wants to add some swordtails to the bunch, and the tank was running for three days planted before he stuck the fish in all at one time, i don't think it's very well cycled, but the fish seem ok. Now, a week later he wants MORE fish. Would this be ok?
Thanks

maybe some loaches to eat the snails. i'm not sure how good it would be to add fish, but it sounds like he plans to regardless of the cycle status.. i wonder if he's tested the water even...

No, he doesn't know much about fish....

The white fish with a spot on it's dorsal fin has been missing for 3 days now..... Sounds like the red tailed shark if you asked me.
I suggest to him loaches because the snails are getting to be a problem. I don't really want to be Dr. Evil, but the snails are going to kill the fish with their waste, so it needs to be kept under control.
I don't think he has tested, but if I suggest it maybe he will.
Nitrates, ph, water hardness, I know there is more. What are the others?
