Help!: my female swordtail is just lying there

I have had the swordtails in my tank for about 4 weeks now and one of the females is just being very lazy. She lays on the ground or sits on my plants. She is very skinny and she swims weird. Her swimming is more of a wobble. I do bi-weekly water changes. The nitirites ammonias and nitrates are all good. I have added some prime and I have been trying to feed her but she doesn't eat. Will she make it?

Sorry to hear about your Swordtail. That sounds like a condition that affects a lot of livebearers, I'm not sure if theres an actual name for it. I've had Platies, Swords and Guppies like it in the past, some make it and some don't.

What is a good cure. I had a molly awhile ago that had the same symptoms and I added prime to the tank but the molly died and there was a strange whole in her side? No mouths that could make a whole like that unless my kulhi loach did that

I don't think that there is a cure unfortunatly. Keeping the water pristine can only help, but in my experience even if the fish survive they tend to stay that way. It tends to happen a lot to female livebearers after they've given birth a few times.

This female has yet to give birth and I have seen alot of births in my day so I know when one is coming and when one has happened.

hi..sorry about your swordtail, a few of my platys began hanging out in the bottom, then started with the fins clamped etc. I did a wc, added prime and stress-coat, and all but one made it aafter a few weeks. Although it was the female that didn't recover, its not gender specific, imo, it just happens some make and some don't regardless of the gender.
I would just say, water change, maybe stress coat+ and hope for the best. Sorry about your fish.

I fed my fish and the swordtail tried to eat but she kept spitting food out. She only held in a little bit of food
