Thinking of getting a swordtail

Hi guys. I have a cycled 33 Gal (US) planted tank with a couple of guppies, platies, a school of zebra danios and a cory cat.

Im thinking of getting a male swordtail, and wont be overstocked when he is fully sized. I was wondering how peaceful they are and considering that he will be a good couple of inches bigger than my other fish when adult sized, will he be a problem for my other fish?

from what i have reseached so far i think not, but its always good to be on the safe side before buying.

any advice would be much appreiated

thanks

welcome to fishlore tomede1 !!!

swords are usually great in community tanks and shouldnt be an issue...but, id add some more cories first as they love and do so much better in 3-6 ratio...

goodluck and im sure other members have some suggestions as well

Yeah, first order of buisness it to add at least 2 more cories, although 3 or 4 would be better. But then, I think one male swordtail would be a nice addition.

Swords are awesome fish. I have 3 a breeding pair of Koi Swords and a Red Sword female. No babies yet but the pair is supposed to breed true. If I had to get just one sword though I would go with a liertail, High Fin male. They look amazing and will make an outstanding centerpiece fish.

Welcome!
The only thing I have against swords & platies is that they seem very susceptible to ICH.
So, I'd def. quarentine one before adding it to your main tank if you get one.
