pebbles/shells

sorry if im in the wrong place here but my daughter has just comeback from the isle of white and brought me some pebbles and shells from the beach she said she wanted to put them in my tank but thort ide better check first to see if this would be ok to do or not?

i would give them a scrub, do not use soap or any cleaner, and then boil them for a little bit before putting them in the tank

I agree with coffeebean...
Just clean them good and get all the sand out of the crevices. By boiling them slightly you will kill any unwanted bacteria and they will be good to go!

They will raise your pH, so keep that in mind

They will, but very slowly, so depending on the amount of shells you're adding you may counteract that completely with water changes. I'd suggest monitoring your pH pretty closely for the first few weeks after adding them just so you know.
