Is it t5, HO, VHO? dont know of PC with such wattage. ALthough will do better with MH, done it with Fluo, PC, VHO. i will say at least T5 or VHO to have small polyps to extend more.

If have 80w of 50/50 light, would try toward top with good flow water around them. This will ensure less detritus accumulating and algae taking hold on plate. Can use turkey baster/syringe to flush the coral of detritus.
If looking for frags, search local club/forum whre you can buy from other hobbyist, even for less and gain tons of info from keepers if and when possible.
$20 seems fair price although seen lower locally (NYC).

Try googling "turbinaria"

80 watts over a 55 is not all that much light for a hermatypic SPS. For turbinaria I would place it high in the tank where it could get good turbulent water flows and plenty of light. Keep the alk, calc and SG up. Not sure I'd try it under 80 watts (2 x 40 watts?) though.

Edit: just found this too: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...521&pcatid=521

I thought this was 10 g? Have done it in 4' x 12" H tank, placed it near the light. Did OK but better under VHO/PC. UNDER MH burned and damaged! (maybe I did not cclimated to MH?). T5 was not avail in US when i left the hobby.

Doh! Sorry. I was looking at his aquarium drop down. Disregard my comments on the lighting.

Did I read that correctly? He just sent you broken off piece as is?
It should have been mounted on plug/small piece of rock and stablized before selling! Or did i misunderstood?

He glued it on to a rock and it healed on his frag rack for 2days then I pick it up. I got home and slow dripped it for 2 hours and put it in my tank. Should I be worried and what should I look for if it is not doing well? Thanks

i did not know it can heal that fast. Fragging SPS was just starting as i left hobby. we usually left in its tank , more than 2 days though, for while before moving to different water (Healed and new growth seen). It may be that better products are being used now to heal/stablize (?), but still i would rather wait bit longer before buying or buy one that was fragged for while.
Maybe someone with more experience with fragging will share his/her inputs.
Fragging sps will be my new challenge once I have foot stuck in reef set up,
hopefully soon!

Lets just see how it does and keep us posted. If your lighting has 2 or more switches, have them on timer to increase and decrease the light (simulating the sun) as day progresses.
Any pics soon?
