What's Wrong?!

I bought my first soft coral two weeks ago. I've been checking the water quality and it's all good, and I pretty sure it has the right amount to light. But, A couple days ago it completly closed up and is getting coveered in this white slime on one spot, and its building. The only problem is I don't know what the coral is called. Mabey you can help me out.? I'll post a couple of picutes.

Yeah that is definetely a hammer coral.

Check your water conditions over and over again aswell as your salinity.

Post your water test results here so then i can help you out

Hammers and Frogspawns get a white slime over their head when one of two things is going on. It is either getting ready to split or it is very ill and trying to fix itself. It is not uncommon for a coral to split from stress after being acclimated to a new tank.

Wait, so you have a saltwater tank without a way to measure S.G. or salinity?

You're using a "head lamp" for lighting (don't know what that is but I assume it's not enough for LPS corals)?

You don't have kits for ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate?

You trusted the employees at the LFS?

You didn't use table salt, did you?
