mushroom trouble

About two weeks ago I bought a mushroom; I am embarrassed to say that I do not know what kind it is, only that is brown and has light whitish spots. Anyway it had been doing really well until yesterday when it shriveled up. I don't think it is dead because it responds to touch. If anyone has any ideas as to what might be wrong, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Touching is the most likely cause to it shriveling up or at least keeping it shriveled up. Mushrooms are mushrooms, Acitinodiscus sp., they only differ with color. They are not a high light coral. I would just let it go for a few days to see if it opens back up. Mushrooms are tough little coral.

I agree. I have 3 diff types of mushrooms in my tank. They all didn't want to open up for a few days when I first placed them in my tank. Then they all opened up widely. I have them placed mid ways down in my tank, they seem to not open good in high flow water, and/or bright bright lighting. They do shrivel up when they get ticked as well (from my hands being in the tank messing around them)
