Mystery Snail Question

Anyone have a good site to find out about these creatures?

I'm trying to find out if I need to provide another shell for them, so they can lose theirs or what I have to do. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Never heard of having to provide an extra shell.

you don't need another shell for them. they will grow their own shells, just make sure to provide enough Ca for them to do that. do you know what kind of mystery snail you have?

www.applesnail.net is a good website to check out as well

Re: Mystery Snail Question

I'll have to figure out how to test for Calcium. Honestly, I haven't been testing for it.

I have no idea what species they are. They're both black shelled, not that that says anything, I'm sure. LOL

I'll have to do a shell check when I get home and see if I can figure that whole species thing out.

Thanks for the link.

usually Ca test kits are pretty expensive. what i did when i had them was to just make sure that i always had a calcium block or two in the tank. when the block dissolved, i would just put some more in.

if it's naturally black, you might have a brig (the kind that won't demolish plants). if you take a picture of the spire, someone on here might be able to help. the folks at applesnail.net would also be able to help
