2nd question about blue snails

is it possible to produce blue snails from breeding various other colors of mystery snails, or will other colors not intertwine even though they are all mystery snails... if so has any one produced blue snails what snails did you use for such a change?

Hello Steed. I'm not familiar with the mixed breeding of snails. I just let my Mystery Snails and mother nature do their thing. Hopefully one of our other members will be able to go into detail for you. I'm pretty sure we have a few members that do breed snails.
I'll be looking forward to more information on this as well.
Take care!
Ken

different color trait alleles are always present so it is possible, it will take you a long time though.

ah yes.. but the goal is to produce BLUE snails not just any snails, and not to start with blues as to most likely produce other colors in the making of blues.

The applesnail.net will give you loads of info about care and breeding and GENETICS (there's a tab) and the aquabid will give you the snail colors you need to get started.

I may not understand your question, but I think you're asking about the difference between an apple snail and a mystery snail? The term "apple snail" refers to snails that fall in the family Ampullariidae. Mystery snails Pomacea bridgesii effusa are a part of the Ampullariidae family. So, info on apple snail = info on mystery snail.

okay now that posts are straightened out...im getting snails later today or tomarrow(which isn't important)... if i have an optimal set up for my snails... how long till i can expect eggs..(that is of course if i get males and females)

P.S ive heard rumors that mystery snails have male and female "parts" on all snails, and apple snails have separate male and female "parts"... is this true are are they both as A male and A female....false true what don't feel like looking at more sites one says one other says other

Mystery snails are not asexual. They are either male or female and they need both to reproduce. There is a way to tell the sex from the underside of the shell of something, but I can't recall exactly. It's on that applesnail.net site. That site is great and it's really the only one I have found containing consistently valid information on these awesome inverts.
