Why did my snail die?

My apple snail just died, and I have no idea what happened. I cant help suspecting it's because I just moved her to a new tank, although the reason still evades me. I also moved 5 corys with her and they're happily spawning away. The tank is cycled, with water parameters pretty much the same as the other tank - ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates, 5-10. The pH is slightly higher - 7.2 or 7.3 when the other tank is 7. Could that be it? Also I have driftwood in this tank, is there any way that could have an affect? I would greatly appreciate some advice, as I'd love to get another, but don't want to until I know the tank is ok. RIP little snail

OH no! I'm so sorry!

Are you 100% positive he's dead? When I moved my apple snail, he pouted for TWO days!! He clamped up and wouldn't move an inch. Sometimes they pout and don't move. I know I'm reaching but maybe he's not dead?!?

Otherwise, I have no clue why the change would've killed him. It all looks fine....

Yeah, dead. It was clamped up and floating a couple of days ago, and I freaked out. Then when I got up in the morning it was cruising around looking fine. Lulled me into a false sense of security. Next morning it was laying on the bottom with half its body (all shrivelled up) hanging out of the shell. Looked pretty dead to me - I really hope it was anyway, because I'd feel real bad disposing of a live animal. I can't see why the move would have done it either, but I just can't think of anything else.

Sorry to hear you lost your snail Scatty. I'm not sure what the problem was but I don't think the pH (going from low to high) would have been the problem. If you had gone from high pH to low pH then that might have been a problem.

It was full adult size when I got it, but I don't know how old. I'd only had it 2 or 3 months.
