My Golden Apple Snail went from being very active and a voracious eater to lying ( somtimes on her side) half open on the bottom of the tank. Her siphon is sticking out. I took her out..she has her color, she does not smell, she seems a little slimey ( body not shell)
Her Tank:
29 gallon, planted/rocks, no fish, Light 8 hr/day, heated, 2 bubblers & Power filter.
Parameters:
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate- 5
temperature 76 degrees F
pH 7.0
What could be wrong? Is she dying?
She had a "Boyfriend" But she would not leave him alone. She was twice his size and she would stick on his back and "ride" him around relentlessly....he could not take anymore and he left....unfortunatly he could not get back in and when I came into work after the weekend I found him behind the tank all dried up!
Ever since then she has gone into this "state' that she is in now.......?
Please, any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am not very familiar with snail keeping ( She is my first) and I don't want to loose her...she is very pretty and previously she was quite entertaining!
