apple and mystery snail breeding?

hi yesterday we noticed our 2 snails acting out of the ordinary so we sat and watched them for a while sort of like twisting and turning on each other it was good to watch as we have never witnessed this behaviour before, anyway we figured that they were mating and was wondering if someone could tell us how long after mating does a snail lay her eggs and how long after that before they hatch thanks in advance

Re: apple and mystery snail breeding?

You can expect eggs above the water line [mine layed theirs clear up by the light] about a week to 10 days after mating. Then another week to 14 days after that you will start to see the baby snails. They generally have between 10 and 45 at a time. but mine had about 60. [both were Mystery Snails] and it does not take long for them to take over your tank. You may want to remove them to another container as soon as they get big enough and feed them Crab Cuisine or something comparible. As soon as it soaks to a soft consistency they will be able to eat it just fine.

Re: apple and mystery snail breeding?

Thanks chickadee
* * * * * * * * * * * * * The snails are in a 20uk gallon tank beside the guppy and molly fry so hopefully they should be fine in there, were 99.99% sure they were (at it) it was difficult to see as they were on the back glass but they were doing something for quite a while, would they female go an hide for a while as today she has wedged herself behind the filter and closed up and the other goes up once in a while beside her.
We have never kept snails before up until 2 months ago so dont know habits of snails, thanks for the info ill keep you updated
By the way SASHA is our dogs name lol she is a (retriever cross newfoundland) just in case you wondered lol
