| | Fish Keeper | Good for you. Its fun when that happens. But I have to warn you, your tank is overstocked. I sincerely hope you have a bristlenose pleco, or you are in even more trouble. Your total inches of fish is over 20, not counting the pleco or snails. You should definitely buy more tanks. Your profile didn't say if you had any other tanks, but if you do, move your fish around. On the upside, you only have one guppy, which was smart, or you'd have a lot more fish!! Good luck! Last edited by MeGustaUnaPez926; November 28th, 2008 at 11:20 PM.

| | Fish Mentor | Also... the "baby" snails are cute... but when grown up they will take about 5 inches of space each! Last edited by Alessa; November 29th, 2008 at 03:05 PM.

| | Fish Mentor | Exactly what Alessa said. You need to sell them quick or get something that eats em

| | Fish Keeper | Actually Matt, I must respectfully disagree. DON'T get something that eats them. The tank is already way over stocked, he cannot add any more fish. The fish most people would get for that job is a clown loach which would be a bad idea, to say the least, and a dwarf puffer would just not work out, considering the fish that are in there already. |

| | Fish Keeper | Cucumber or zucchini on would do the trick. Rubber band some to a rock or piece of wood, and the snails flock there. As regards to which of the parents is male vs. female, I have no clue. Does it really matter? If you take one out, there wouldn't be any more, unless they're asexual, which I don't know if Mystery snails are... And if they are asexual, it doesn't matter which one you take out, because there will be more either way. |

| | Moderator | It's always exciting when Mystery Snails breed. I love their egg clusters and then the tiny little snails.
You could always check to see if the LFS will take the babies when they are a couple of weeks older.

| | Fish Mentor | same thing happened to me... bf said: "You never mentioned removing a cluster "
I am trying to salvage as many as I can. One of them is already (temporarily?) housed with my betta... the rest... probably going to the 55 gallons if i ever get it! (I removed what was left of the cluster) |

| | Fish Addict | well i thought i had a few babies but as i was cleaning out the gravel & the rocks there was hundreds tiny small & medium ones....i got rid of 1 snail, pleco & black skirt tetra,im thinking my corys & my big snail will take care of my tank!!!! ?? |

| | Fish Keeper | When you say you think your cories and big snail will take care of the tank, what does that mean? That you are getting rid of the other fish? I'm guessing that all your fish are relatively small right now, so they don't look to cramped, but as they grow there will be more problems. Since you cant really split up the various schools you have, I would recommend getting another 10 gallon tank, cycling it, and putting all your tetras in there, maybe adding a couple. You could heavily plant it, they really like that, it would be lovely. I would also put in your snail. Then in the tank you have, I would leave your cories, guppy and adding a few more zebra danios, they really should be kept in schools. You need to keep a careful eye on your water parameters, because the tank is very young and I doubt it was cycled properly, and the fish were definitely added too fast. You are very likely going to get an ammonia boom soon and loose a lot of fish. I wish you luck. |
