Pond snails or Baby apples?

So I got to looking at the new snails in my tank and began to wonder if they are baby apple snails or those nasty pond snails everyone is talking about. There wasn't any new plants or anything that would have brought them in if they are pond snails and there was another snail with my apple at one point so I want to think they are apples. Anyone know any way to I.D. them positively?

How big are the baby snails?

Apple snails lay there eggs above the water line, so if you have seen any large pink or orange masses then there is a chance that they may be apple snails.

If they are big enough you can tell the difference by looking at the antennae length, and the shape of the shell is it's spiral long, or short and tall? Also, do these snails have an operculum?

This?

or This?

Did you see any egg masses above the water line? I think apple snails lay big patches of eggs that need to stay dry to hatch. Pond snails, on the other hand, lay little jelly-like patches of eggs all over the tank.
