Apple snail dead????

so my ramsgorn snail died and disintigrated. I'm going to do a water change tomarro. I think the apple snail is dead too. He hasnt moved all day. his trap door () is open. But his body hasnt separated from the she'll or anything. This white fuzzy stuff came from him, and his she'll was "dusty". Also, is this stuff ( disintigrating snails and the like) lethal to my other fish Thanks!!!

P.s. If I decide to get another snail what do I have to do differently so that they live Also, my betts has started acting a tad lethargic could this be related

most likely the snails are decomposing into ammonia... which is killing the bettas. do a 50% water change daily and if the snails are trully showing white stuff take them out!

A snail smells really bad when they die. A dead apple snail is big enough to mess up the water if it isn't removed. The quality of water could be effecting your other fish and could actually kill them. If it was me I would take the snail out and stick it in a bowl by itself and do at least a 30% water change on the tank. Make sure to add dechlorinator. I am a water changer by habit if a fish is acting a little different than usual I start a water change, then check my water. A few minutes can make a big difference on the recovery of a fish.

It seems that when your Ramshorn snail died it screwed up with your tank, raising ammonia, and introducing other toxins from its decay. That is probably "killed" your other snail, and WILL hurt your bettas. I agree with alessa, 50% water change or even more.
