Is he dead???

My mystery snail has not moved from the same spot for the past week. I took him out, but the "door" seemed closed. so, I put him back in the tank and he still has not moved

any suggestions? It seems like the door is closed but it also could be open... (a bit?) it is really hard to tell, also he hasnt moved for about a week and I am worried about him being dead and releasing a massive amount of ammonia into my tank!

Take him out and gently tug on the trapdoor. If he is alive it will be tight, but if it is loose and opens up, he's dead.

Both of these are good ways to check, The trap door thing worked for me, the little guy was just lazy.

Then the smell thing worked on another quite a while back - Ewwwww - there will be no doubt.
