What's the equivalent bioload for snails?

I bought about 15 asolene spixi's for my 10G shrimp tank with a pair of julii cory. After a filter change, my shrimp appeared to be really stressed out. I'm wondering about the bioload of these zebra snails.

I also have about 20 briggs in my 14G with 2 bosemani, 5 platy fry and 6 feeder guppies. The plants are looking really sad. I think the snails are eating my plants, even though I was reassured that they wouldn't. Am I over stocking my 14G tank with 20 briggs?

1 Spixi snail per 2.5gal. So, you have a bit to many!

What about apple snails, briggs specifically?

Apple snails get big. I have been told to allow 5 gallons of water to each of them.

Spixi apple snails are a totally different species. They only get 1" in diameter - and their latin name is Asolene spixi, Apple snail is Pomacea bridgesii.

Do you know the bioload of the mystery pond snail that comes with every plant purchase? I'm starting to get overrun with these guys and want to know how many to let live.

Max size is 2cm... I'd get rid of them though - they can overstock your tank with extreme ease. Loaches are good snail eaters.

They're doing a great job on the algae, figured I'd keep 5 or 6 in there but I wanted to make sure they werent making a lot of waste. I'll start on a killing spree when I turn the lights on this morning. Yummy snail guts for the fishies

If you have 2 of those snails they will reproduce like crazy. I got 1 with some plants I bought and apparently some eggs too because after a couple of week it was nothing to pull out 15-30 in a day and 4 months later I still have a couple left so I wouldn't recomend any more than one and look for tiny groups of eggs. Good luck

im my opinion snails are just not worth it, they actully are very messy, even little pond snails creat alot of waste, and when it large numbers they are a nightmare, and they reproduce amazing fast. you can buy one snail and then have 20 in a week. Snails just arent a very disierable thing
