Need to naturally kill snails.. used veggies..didn't kill enough fast enough...

My 10g tank is INFESTED to say the least I want rid of them the tank is super cycled so I am scared to completly empty it out and start over w/ new substrate, etc... I bought a plant at cough cough petsmart that had eggs on it and then the explosion happend... like 1000 snails everywhere.... I am getting a dwarf puffer for my 6 gallon tank but I don't want to raise snails in my 10g tank and I know he won't eat that many that fast...
I don't want to use chemicals any suggestions? could I clean the tank and just throw the plant away, start fresh w/ new substrate and just where my filter is cycled will be okay? something has to give! I can't stand to see all of the nasty little buggers... I like a couple in a tank.. but this is toooooooo much! they have to go..
I liked my apple snails at least when they reproduced they laid eggs above the water I could remove them and no problems.....

1. Make sure they don't have plants, veggies, algae or any organic matter to eat (It is hard to reproduce if there is no food source)
2. Crush all the snails you see in the tank (Ugh)
3. Vacuum tank twice a week (But this delays the cycle)
4. Add the D. Puffer (He/she will help a little)
5. Add plants back if no snail is present (This might take a few weeks)

im guessing ur getting another tank for the dwarf puffer, because they are so aggresive they need a tank to themselves. i woulld suggest putting the fish in the 10 gal in the new tank, and putting the dwarf puffer in the 10 gal for a week or 2. he will demolish those snails.

if u dont wanna do this, just dont let a single flake of food fall so the bottom of the tank when feeding, and feed less then usuall. also do daily vacuming to make sure no foods on the bottom for the snails

You could just make the 10g a dwarf puffer tank, and the puffer will be happy, just like hes living inside an all you can eat buffet.

Squash them, trust me it's gross, but what I do is I hit any snail I see with the net until I hear a *pop* sound, then my corries eat. It is really gross, but my corries are happy. And yeah, that's how I got my snail problem. Petsmart does NOT sell me any more live plants again!
