Mystery Snails and Calcium

hey guys earlier this week I purchased 2 mystery snail on the small side there doing great my tanks already much cleaner but since the purchase I noticed these white bits on the tip of there shell I did my research and found out they need calcium for perfect shell quality and you give it to them through calcium drops or what ever you put into the tank water. But for reasons that would take to long to explain I can not get them so I was wondering is there any other way like for example a vegitable which is high in calcium and if its a kind of food that im ment to purchase from shops I also cant because I made a deal with my mum that I would not purchase anything else extra for them until my skool finish and the last thing i was aloud to get was livefood which my fish needed so I cant pass over that line.

Hi!

I've got an agreement with my mum and dad - I buy fish and food - they buy everything else. I'm asking the same question really - but I heard that dropping a snail shell you find in the garden (They're common on the other side of the world in England!) into the tank it's enough.

Oh - and for that empty 10gal you have - move your Sky into it and use his 2gal for a Mystery snail or 3 Ghost shrimp.

Dark leafy greens are an excellent source of calcium.

i'm not sure what they call it in australia, but you can get this stuff called plaster of paris - basically calcium sulfate if i remember correctly. just mix some with water, let it set, and you have your own calcium discs. it's pretty cheap too. you can get a 5 pound tub for a few dollars, and that'll last you a few years
