Looks like I brought home a snail, thoughts/suggestions?

Today I bought some live plants from Petsmart, and with one of them, I have brought home at least one tiny snail. It is in a 5 gallon tank with a betta. So now, I'm not too sure what the best thing to do is. Keep the snail or get rid of it? If I get rid of it, how do I go about doing that? Take it out and then what?

If I keep it, how much do they repopulate? Can a snail harm a betta in any way? I swear I read a story on here of a member here having a betta die because snails attached themselves to the fins of the betta, and the betta could not get up for air.

Well, obviously I have no clue of what to do or how to do it. Suggestions are appreciated

BTW, my betta with the snail in the tank gets fed 4 pellets a day and eats all his food when fed. Anything he doesn't eat gets taken out. Not too sure if that matters or not though.

One last thing....the tank has quite a bit of algae (hence me buying the plants). I know the snail would help with this, but would abundance of algae lead to a snail outbreak?
