A snail is "born".
A snail appeared in my tank.
Is that a common thing to happen? I didn't put it in there.
Anyway, we have adopted it, and its name is Trifonas. (my wife named it).
(sorry, I've just noticed that there's a snail forum)

Sometimes their eggs come with the plants, then eventually they hatch. I've had three tiny snails in my tank so far. I remove them straight away because I find them completely vile.. lol.

yes.. definitely remove any snails or eggs that you can find. they'll quickly become a plague, if allowed.

Please read this: Snails in plant tank
Not all snails are "vile", lol. Some are actually very beneficial to a planted tank. I have had beneficial snails in my 75 gallon tank ever since I've gotten my plants. That's been more than half a year ago. I haven't had any snail plague so far. They seem to stay in a very small population. The reason is I don't overfeed my fish. If you don't overfeed your fish, you won't have a snail "infestation". They need food to live too. Having no food, they won't overpopulate your tank. Also, the beneficial kinds won't eat your plants. They'll only eat decaying plant matter and algae. I've transferred some snails to my 10 gallon tank to keep it cycled. The tank had MASSIVE amounts of algae in it. Within 1-2 days, they've completely wiped out algae from my tank. It's been super clean ever since I introduced snails to this tank. They keep my 10 gallon tank cycled. As much as I didn't want snails in the beginning, now I love them

Couldn't agree more, snails are a excellent addition to a healthy tank. They keep algae down, they burrow in the substrate and take out anaerobic bacteria pockets with out causing toxic ammonia outbreaks the way a human hand rakes through a substrate, which is why you have to do a large water change after messing with your substrate or a replant of your tank. And they leave healthy plant matter in my tank alone completely. If my snails were not guests that came with plants over the years, I would go out and buy some.
They are without a second though, the best algae and health controller in my tanks, over my SAE japonica shrimp etc hands down.

pick them out one-by-one...make sure your fish eat every single piece of food, as a small piece will feed plenty of snails and cause them to breed more
i had this problem in roscoe's tank...made sure he got every piece i put in...TA-DA no more snails!

Well, that's the other thing to do.
I personally love snails, they come in many different forms though, and some are great, and some the plague! I have MTS in all my tanks. Some pond snails came in on some java moss, and after picking them out daily for about a month, I haven't seen any for several weeks. Then I have 6 huge magenta apple snails, which I just love, and don't over produce or eat plants.
