Life on The Snail Farm

As you may know I was picking out and killing the pond snails when I would find them in the tanks ...Then my husband wants to have a Snail Fram. So I got a 1gal glass "goldfish bowl" put some gravel, live plants, declorated water, air stone.

Ok! More happenings on the Snail Farm. As I find snails in my tanks I put send them to the farm I have over 12 so far and NOW I JUST saw 2 of the snails mating(I think), one was on top of the other for some time. Does anyone know how long before I will have little snails?

Not exactly sure on the time-frame, but you should see the deposit of snail eggs if it is pond-snails. The deposit of eggs will be clear and very hard to see with water in the tank, sometimes.

Any idea of how long it takes from the time the Pond Snails mate until the baby pond snails hatch?

It may be as quick as 3-4 days, but I'm just not positive. Hope you enjoy being the grandmother of snails.

There once was an old woman who lived in little house she had a little tank with a little snail and now she has so many snails she didn't know what to do.
So she gave them away to be eaten by Puffers and Loaches.

The white eggs have gone bad (fungus). When fish have eggs, we treat the water with some methylene blue. No idea if you can do that with inverts, though. Guys/gals?

Either way, please remove the white eggs, as the fungus could be passed to any creature in the tank. I use the succion of the turkey baster to 'suck them up'. You can also use tweezers.

un fertilzed eggs get a white fungus on them and it can spread to the eggs i would take the infected eggs out

Peace Out Callum!

I saw the snails mating on 09/23/2007 so it was nine days. the babies are a light brown or tan color and are about the size of this dot . There are to many to count.

And you did a scientific study on snails without much work, awesome. You expanded our knowledge, thanks.
