My 46 gallon!

This is a thread that I can post the events or anything else for that matter on my 46 gallon! It's not cycled yet (But I did add Bio-Spira to quicken it), but I have a Dwarf Gourami in there (slight mistake! Oops!). He actually seems very happy all alone. Once it is cycled, then I plan on putting:

6 Cherry barbs
3 Cory cats - Peppered, Leapord, and Panda/Bandit
1 Dwarf Gourami (Check!)
1 Golden Wonder Killifish
3 Kuhli Loaches
1 Angelfish
1 Bristlenose/Starry night Pleco
1 Fancy Guppy

I know that the Angelfish and DG may get a little territorial. If that happens, I'll take out one of them for a couple of days and re-introduce them. That's what I did with my Cichlids and everything has been working out fine since!

I added Bio-Spira a couple of days ago, so hopefully it will speed up the cycle.

Turns out I've been over-feeding Ross (my Dwarf Gourami).

The (very experienced) lady at the LFS said that if I don't feed him until Wensday, the cycle will be finished!

I'm hoping to get the Cories next. Maybe the Kuhli Loaches... ooh! It's so hard to decide!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: My brother finally got his 29g fish tank! He'll be putting Dwarf Puffers and a couple of Ottos in it. The reason I'm posting this in my blog, is because I told him if he had any problems with the Ottos, then he could put them in my 46g. I wouldn't get the Guppy if that happens. Since I have over filtration, then I think it would be OK to have the tank slightly overstocked.

Ok, so I went to the LFS today to get my water tested again (Today's Wensday, it was supposed to be cycled). Turns out that the tank is taking a lot more time to cycle than what it should. I won't be getting any more fish anyways for awhile... I'm planning on getting it planted before hand.

Hi everyone! I went to the LFS again yesterday to get the water tested and check out the plants. It's in the point of the cycle where the nitrites are rising and the ammonia is dropping. While I was there, I got an Amazon Sword. My fish loves it! It really looks good in the tank. I really need to re-arrange the decor, it's not that appealing. I also need to buy some new decorations. I don't have near enough hiding spots for the bottom feeders.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also have an Anubias Nana in there now as well. Since the one in my 10g was so incredibly healthy, I took broke a bit of it (making sure to leave roots) off and placed it in my 46g.

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted about this yet! I've done some tweaking on my stocking plan. Since I found out that I have waaay over filtration (125 gallons!), then all that REALLY limits me is swimming room. Here's the updated list:

6 Cherry Barbs
6 Cories
3 Kuhli Loaches
3 Zebra Danios
3 Leapord Danios
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Golden Wonder Killifish
1 Anglefish
1 Bristlenose Pleco

I altered it with more Kuhli's, more Cories, Zebra Danios, Leopard Danios, and took away the fancy guppy. I've already checked with you guys with the compatibility. I'm good to go!

More fish!

Well, earlier this evening, I went to my LFS. I was pleased to find out that my water was so close to being perfect. I only had a itsy bitsy bit of nitrites left of the cycle to finish.

I went ahead and bought 3 out of the 6 total cories I'll end up with. I got 2 Julei cories, and 1 Paleteau (I can't spell it... let alone pronounce it!). The Palete something cory, who's name is Gray, sort of looks like a peppered cory. I can't tell the difference between the 2 Julei's, so I haven't given them names yet. Hopefully I'll be able to find a obvious difference eventually. They like each other's company while Gray wanders off by himself. He's also quite a bit larger than the other 2.

I'll keep you guys posted! And hopefully get some pictures up soon.

I got the Angelfish! I named it June (assuming that it's a girl), even though I haven't confirmed it's gender yet. She has a small injury above her eyes. She's ~1.5" (small, I know). June's really shy, and hardly come out from her hiding spot in my Amazon Sword. She's swimming around a lot more than she was last night though. She's so pretty!

I found out that Gray (my "peppered" cory) is actually a Corydoras Paleatus thanks to Butterfly. The other 2 are False Julei's. Gray has a lot more personality than Yoyo and Yoya.

Oh gosh! I can't believe I didn't mention that I re-arrange my tank! It looks a billion times better. I'll try to get some pictures up of the tank later today. Along with my 10g.

Although it's still difficult to tell at such a small size, it appears that June is a girl after all.

It's so cool... all my fish have so much personality! I've gotten to know each one of them.

This Saturday I'm going to try to go to my LFS again. I'll get 4 Cherry barbs, completing my school of 6. I wish I could just add all the fish at once! Lol! I hate waiting. Anyways, while I'm there, I'll be looking at all their bigger decorations. I'm going to buy a big centerpiece decoration to complete my tank (besides the fish of course). After I get the Cherry Barbs, the next week, I'll be getting 3 more Cories completing my school of 6. And the order of the rest of the fish introduced into my tank... Zebra Danios, Leopard Danios, Killifish, BN pleco, and Kuhli Loaches. I'm slowly wittling down my big list of fish to get!

Well, I've adjusted my stock again. This should be the final stock (as long as I don't see another fish I just HAVE to have):

6 Cherry Barbs
6 Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish (Maybe Threadfins depending on the price)
6 Cories
3 Zebra Danios
3 Leopard Danios
3 Kuhli Loaches
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Angelfish
1 BN Pleco
1 Killifish

I currently have in the tank:

2 Cherry Barbs
3 Cories
1 Flame Dwarf Gourami
1 Marbled Angelfish

I'm getting 4 more Cherry Barbs today, completeing the school of 6. While I'm at the LFS, I'll be looking at the decor. I'm planning on buying a big one for the center. I'll post later today after I get all my fish! And maybe even some pictures.

Yesterday I got 3 female and 1 male Cherry barb. 2 of the females looked like they had ammonia poisining, but since I was with my friend, I was to busy showing her all the other fish I'll have to notice. One of them died right off the bat. I took her back today (or whatever was left of her) and also got my water tested (It's required in order to get credit for the dead fish). My water's perfect, and I got another much healthier female.

Since that store didn't have any decor that suited my tank, we ran down to Petsmart only a little ways away. I got a rock cave, barrels, and a big centerpiece, along with some shells from the beach. I"ll see if I can't post some pictues.

My new fish, Tuck!

I've been wanting to visit this one fish store for awhile, and finally got to go earlier this evening. They didn't have that wide of a selection of freshwater fish, but they did have some beautiful Guppies and a big wonderful Angelfish. They sold the Guppies by the pair, so I decided not to get them (But my mom said she saw some really really pretty Guppies at Wal-mart, so she's going to take me there tomorrow to look). I ended up getting the Angelfish. He's about 6", but he has a really long frilly tail that takes up about 3" of his length. He's beautiful. And he really makes June look small.

Sorry I haven't been keeping yall updated! A lot has happened since I last posted in my tank. Here's my current stocking:

5 Cherry Barbs
5 Cories
3 Kuhli Loaches
15+ Ghost Shrimp
2 Adult Guppies
2 Angelfish
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Guppy Fry

And I plan on adding 4 Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish and a Bolivian Ram to the mix, and then I'm done with stocking!

I'll have to tell you the story behind the Guppy Fry later, but right now, I have to go!
