Seachem Stability

I have decided on my first experiment. The decision was made mostly by virtue of the low cost of the experiment and the ease with which it could be completed.

I will be testing SeaChem's nitrogen cycle product, Stability.
I will be starting with a 20g tank with neutral substrate, plastic plants (for extra surfaces that the bacteria can colonize) and a Whisper filter. Everything will have been sterilized before introduction.
The one thing I don't know is what I'm going to use for an ammonia source. I am probably just going to use plain ammonia, as I believe I have phosphorous in my water source, but I am troubled by the possibility that I may be missing other trace nutrients that would be present in fish waste.

I will be very interested in seeing the results! I've had success with it myself, but I do have live plants and I used it in a cycle with fish... I've tried the same with Cycle and the results were terrible, but I never tried either one in a fishless cycle... so it will be good to see how that works out as well.

are you going to try it with different types of water ? RO, well, city etc? because some have had success and some havent and I feel its playin a part on how sucessful could depend on where your water source is from....even if you arent , im so going to watch this thread also

Good points. Thank you.
I will work with city water (which, in my case, is just treated well water) at first, but when I have the money, maybe I'll try it with distilled water (if I can find it. Cub didn't have any yesterday) treated with the mineral mix (to make it like a milder river water).

I have used it myself and always wondered if it really works so I will be watching the thread as well.

Has not started yet. I'll give updates as I begin things.
I'll be doing a different experiment first. The equipment is in the mail.

Haven't gotten around to it. I've been working more and making less money, meaning time and funds are limited.
