lol @ you! I completely understand about not being able to go through with it. I used to keep ghost shrimp as pets in my fish tanks.

Emory; The thing is they are so hard at work cleaning and all lol and don't hide and seem to have no fear lol even as i was catching a snail one got in the net and politely got out lol They are interesting as well and i noticed they do eat the smaller snails that i have for my dwarf's But i have to beat them to the smaller snails for breakfast. Amazing creatures-is there anything else i should know about them? i have been doing a lot of reading bella

Hmmm.... I would just say that although I loved keeping mine they often died after a couple of months. Mystery deaths. Probably just got attacked during molting.

Watch out for horsehair worm. That is the little white string you see neatly wound throughout them. Not much you can do about it. Haven't found any med that rids an invert of a parasite. Used Jungle Parasite Guard but of the 2 shrimp infected one died and one's parasite left. Not a very scientific experiment. I just separated the infected shrimp from the healthy shrimp.

They are cute and silly. My LFS said they sell them as food and had never heard of them being kept as pets. (I was seeking help with diagnosing my mystery deaths.) I think they make fantastic pets.

If I knew they wouldn't die I would have some as pets.... but now that I have puffers I don't think I could keep some for pets and some for food. That would be impossible.
