Hmmm.... I would just say that although I loved keeping mine they often died after a couple of months. Mystery deaths. Probably just got attacked during molting.
Watch out for horsehair worm. That is the little white string you see neatly wound throughout them. Not much you can do about it. Haven't found any med that rids an invert of a parasite. Used Jungle Parasite Guard but of the 2 shrimp infected one died and one's parasite left. Not a very scientific experiment. I just separated the infected shrimp from the healthy shrimp.
They are cute and silly. My
LFS said they sell them as food and had never heard of them being kept as pets. (I was seeking help with diagnosing my mystery deaths.) I think they make fantastic pets.
If I knew they wouldn't die I would have some as pets.... but now that I have puffers I don't think I could keep some for pets and some for food. That would be impossible.
