Tubes you can see them hiding in,or not be able to see them hiding in?

If you want to be able to see them, then a clear tube such as an undergravel filter lift tube, laid on it's side,or partially buried in the substrate would work.

Or,if you don't want to see them and truly allow them to be hidden.PVC pipe of any diameter buried under the substrate or covered with moss (for natural appearance) or covered by stones. You can leave both ends open,or close 1 side off. You can get 'elbows' or 'T's or 'traps' there's a lot of different PVC pipe 'caves' you can make.

Dried bamboo works well, as does kiln-seared bamboo. When they feel safe, shrimp will perch on top of the stuff. When they don't feel safe, they'll hide inside.

That is what I needed. I did not know PVC could be used.
Thank you

I want to point out that I'm talking about real bamboo, not lucky bamboo, which is the stuff that can be used live in aquaria. Lucky bamboo isn't hollow like real bamboo.

Like any plant matter, bamboo might affect water quality, but only if you've got very little buffer in your water (i.e. if you're using rain water). Figure that it's like any other driftwood.

Yes it does. If for some odd reason it floats, I would just bury part of it in the gravel. But it should sink on its own as long as there is no air trapped in it (make sure the tube is full of water if you have one end sealed off)
