So yesterday morning I found my Banded shrimp had molted (YAY). All day my skimmer was going absolutely bonkers. Is that typical when a shrimp molts or do you think I have a different issue? Skimming normaly today. One other question, should I leave the shed exoskeleton in the tank? I've heard that they need to eat it to get lost nutrients back. I actually removed it this time but would be nice to know for the future.

I was keeping hermit crabs years back. When they molted they ate the exo before they emerged from the substrate, and info I read did say that it was very beneficial to them and healthy. So, IMO the shrimpy should benefit from it, but if it didn't seem interested in it, I guess I would take it out too. Is there as site out there that gives shrimp info? I used to go to a site for the hermies that was out of Florida, I found it when I googled "Hermit crabs" it was very good and they had an 800# to take calls.
