The crystal reds are a variant of the normal amano shrimp. The black ones are on the website I listed above. I think that both are of the
neocaradinia family (genus, whatever, I can't remember the specifics of Latin names), which are, if I am understanding this right, developed and bred entirely in captivity, using the various
caradinia species as breeding stock.
Hopefully, if the ones you have don't go through planktonic stage, they will breed like crazy. Dino's right. The more odd species are relatively expensive.
There is another possibility that I, for some reason, hadn't thought of. It seems that the amano shrimp can be permanently died fairly easily. This may be nothing more than a normal amano shrimp.
