Baby Amano Shrimp!!!

A couple of months ago, I bought a number of amano shrimp from Dino. I got red ones, and some "normal" ones (I put normal in quotes because, unlike the plain amano shrimp, these do not require brackish water for the fry to grow, according to Dino).
Anyway, these went in a tank with three platinum lyretail mollies, along with, currently, a piece of swahala driftwood that has two pieces of java fern and one huge clump of java moss. I've been periodically feeding them vegetable wafers, and they have, I'm sure, been eating the leftovers from the mollies' frozen food.
The other day, I saw a little tiny shrimp in the moss, and it took me a moment to realize that this was not one of the originals. So far, I have seen, at the same time, three clear shrimp fry and one red shrimp fry.

Wow, I've never heard of Amano shrimp that can breed in freshwater. Are they a variation of the regular Amano or are they a different species?

Anyway, congrats on the baby shrimp. Do you have pics of them??

I don't have pics. I don't have a good digital camera. It's okay for distant pictures, but it doesn't have anything anywhere near a macro lens. Anything closer than a couple of feet, and it takes a blur.

The Amano shrimp have a ton of different variations, and not all of them require brackish water to breed. What it seems to come down to is if the babies go through a larval, planktonic stage. Plankton needs some salt, apparently.
Other variants of the Amano shrimp start out life as miniature versions of the adults, and they do not need the salt.
