How many?

Hi guys

Okay so my current plan is to do some stocking changes in tanks and end up with 2 tanks left, my 12g and my 29g. Need more space So my community fish are going to be sold and moved onto good homes and my sisters are taking my betta

Anyway i'm keeping my Multies, love the little beasties :P haha so i'm going to move colony of multies into my 29g, fry and all and use the 12g as a fry grow out tank

My question is how many adult multies could i keep in the 29g and still give room for a certain amount of fry grow out before i move them? My current colony of 6 Adults + 2-3 batches of fry from each pair is too much for my 12g

Many Thanks

You can keep all six adults and most of the fry in the29g. with plenty of room for them to claim territories and make spawning pits.
I had my last ones(before the ones I have now) in a 30L and loved it because there wasn't a lot of wasted over head space. the 29g is taller I believe.

Thanks Butterfly
Would I be able to keep 4 Adult Pairs in there whilst moving some fry to the grow out tank?
Also will pea gravel be ok for substrate?
Thanks

I'm confused.... I thought you only had 6 adults?

Pea gravel would be ok, but your fish would prefer sand. They love to dig. I used CaribSea's African Cichlid Sand when I kept my Ocellatus and they dug in it all the time. I don't know if it's available in the UK, but it's a really cool mix of white and black, and helps buffer your water too.

Yeah I have six adults at the moment but i am considering another pair to the colony if the tank would sustain them

The foot print of the tank is 1foot by 3 foot if that helps

And yeah i was thinking that sand would probably be a better option

Thank you
