Sick Serpae Tetra?

I have a 29g tank with 4Serpae,4Blackskirt,3Orange Flame Tetras and 1 Cory.My water levels are the way they are suppose to be.I noticed a couple of weeks ago that 1 of my Serpaes had a few white bumpy looking spots and I thought he had Ick.The next day after work I checked on him and it was gone.So I didn't buy anything to treat it.I asked at the Petstore and the girl said it could be eggs.Which I thought is odd on the side of the fish's body.I had 1 of my Orange Flame Tetras in a breeder net, cause it got it's fins nipped off by the others. So I was thinking that the Serpae got to much stress and that's what caused the spots. After the Orange Flame Tetra died it got better, but today I noticed that it is back. And after the spots go away it looks like a little dent in the body.Does anyone have any Idea what it could be?I hope I am not to confusing.I have the fish together in that tank for almost a year now. Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me.

Almost sounds like a nodular disease -- are the cysts yellowish? If so, it could be caused by any of a number of parasites similar to the ones that causes neon tetra disease.

Hmm, I don't see anything else that fits that description in the fish health book I have. You may want to ask this over in the Fish Disease forum -- there's lots of folks there with a lot more knowledge about various diseases.
