Hello!
I dont have a clue about seahorses but I think they are quite specialist; they should really be kept on their own or with other very passive fish because they cant compete with a fish for food due to their errmmmm swimming style I guess is the way to put it!
I've just started marine fish keeping - its a lot of hard work and a LOT more expensive so be aware of that side of it but I personally am loving the challenge! Its well worth it when you wake up to christmas day and there's a new valentini puffer fish in the tank (my brother snuck him in!!)

I've kept them and IMO they really need their own tank. Most saltwater tanks need brisk circulation and the seahorse likes very slow flowing water currents. They can be difficult to feed and need some sort of place to hold onto in the tank with their tails. Keeping them with other fish will make it very difficult to feed since they are very slow and PICKY eaters.

Hi Mike, Miss Mouse & Hjkagag
We have started our LR Curing in our tank 200lt 50g and we will be stocking the tank with 2 pair Horsies, 2 Piperfish & 2 shrimp in 3 months once all the levels are spot on. This is our first SW Tank. All are captive breed and get on with each other,.
We will keep a log of all we do, ie water, pH etc and hope to post our photo's soon weather good or bad...

Mike, Did you have a sump when you had seahorses? i ask this as the one we are setting up has no sump. and seahorses dont like strong currents. we are looking at splitting the filter suction into 4 smaller pipes and placing them at the rear of the LR. So as to pull the water through the gaps between the LR. 1 Small powerhead aimed at the LR face, we hope this will give enough flow to eliminate pockets of stale water.
